Hair Loss Treatments (Alopecia)
Hair loss in both men and women occurs in a significant number of people especially over the age of 40 years.
In men hair loss usually occurs on the front, top and crown of the scalp while in women it tends to be more generalised or diffuse. This type of hairloss which is also known as androgenetic alopecia is often inherited and therefore often seen in family members.
However there are many other types of hair loss which can present differently and would need to be investigated to confirm the cause and provide appropriate treatment. Treatments for hair loss include:
- Camouflage and hair thickeners
- Hair additions or hair pieces
- Medications to stimulate hair growth
- Hair transplant surgery
